The imagery emerges from documenting architecture and construction sites as I wander around Vienna in a spontaneous way, where I frame public space through an anarchist geographical lens as a living emancipatory sphere to explore. The architectural moments I find are unscripted interactions with the urban environment, that I translate into the acrylic paintings through the composition, style, and colour. By incorporating textures such as sand and stone—materials commonly used in interior finishes and construction—the paintings connect back to their conceptual origins, evoking the tactile presence of the architectural environments they reference. I find a nuanced relationship between substantial permanent architectural forms and the unfinished, precariously stacked materials and debris from road and building construction. By collapsing hierarchies between the monumental and the precarious, the work creates an in-between space where beauty surfaces through the slippages, openings and contradictions.
